40th Anniversary

Forty and Forward!
The Montana 4-H Foundation was established in 1969 by the Montana 4-H Local Leaders Association. As a non-profit, educational organization, today’s Montana 4-H Foundation mission is to “help 4-H youth by raising private funds, managing financial resources and partnering with the MSU Extension Service to fund educational opportunities for Montana 4-H youth, volunteer leaders and staff.” Currently, the Foundation funds well over $100,000 annually to 4-H programs and projects statewide. The Foundation’s net worth in 1969 was $3,412 while net assets today total $790,442 (2007 audit).
Club Challenge: $4...$40...$400

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Montana 4-H Foundation! Help us serve you better by meeting the “County Challenge” in 2009!

YOUTH...$4 By giving $4 more per member this year, you are helping celebrate 40 years of service to Montana 4-H and showing your support of 4-H programs for the future! This doesn’t need to come from your budget, be creative with ways to raise these additional dollars. Give us a call or contact your county agent or county foundation representative if you need ideas/suggestions…

CLUBS...$40 Clubs can come up with a fundraiser to raise $40 and it can even be a creative way to have fun! The more creative the better! We might even showcase YOUR CLUB in a 2009 edition of Clover Connections. Make extra $$$ with your fundraiser? Put it towards the member or county challenge! All Clubs who meet the challenge will receive a certificate of recognition that can be displayed in historian books or elsewhere.

COUNTY...$400 Show your county support by raising $400 for this anniversary year! Your donation will qualify YOUR COUNTY as a “$400 Club” member (see “$400 Club flyer” for details). This challenge is in addition to the $5/member recommended amount that counties are asked to contibute each year. Counties that participate in the challenge will receive a recognition plate for your new 2009 member contribution plaque. At the end of the challenge all levels that are completed will be listed on your county’s plaque. Help us credit your youth…clubs… and county correctly! Make sure you write what part of the challenge you are completing with your check made out to the MT 4-H Foundation and send to: 111 Taylor Hall, Bozeman, MT 59717.

$400 Club

A brand new way for individuals and organizations to show their annual support for 4-H. JOIN THE CLUB TODAY! Members of the “$400 Club” will receive a uniquely crafted lapel pin made by Montana Silversmiths. Members will receive a different pin for each year of membership or a 10-year wall plaque* where organizations can proudly display their support. “Stick on” years will be sent for each year of membership.

*Please note: This plaque is separate from the $5 member contribution plaque. County “$400 Club” members will be recognized on both plaques. This is ideal for Councils and organizations to show their support of 4-H!

A Very Sweet 16
Lauren Callan thought of a great use for the proceeds from her 4-H hog sale. She used most of it to buy decorations for her 16th birthday party. The snazzy “Oscar Night” themed party wasn’t just for Lauren, though. She shared her day with residents at the Prestige Assisted Living Center in Kalispell. Part of the fun was reminiscing with the residents about their own 16th birthdays.
This wasn’t a 4-H

This wasn’t a 4-H project. Lauren came up with it entirely on her own. But she said she’d never have had the idea if it hadn’t been for the relationship that her 4-H club has with the facility. Do sixteens come any sweeter than that?

Montana 4-H Foundation

The Montana 4-H Foundation, founded in 1969, serves as a non-profit corporation supporting the continued development and growth of the statewide 4-H program. The generous support of donors, volunteers, businesses and community partners helps make possible the many opportunities available to 4-H youth and leaders.

Each year, the Montana 4-H Foundation provides approximately $120,000 in direct support of the over 23,000 4-H members and almost 5,000 volunteers. This partnership with MSU Extension and the 4-H Center for Youth Development allows many youth and leaders to participate in educational, social and often life-changing experiences that mold them into caring and contributing citizens and community leaders.
