Howard Ag 4-H Club members pose with their animals on their big night out.
If you were in the popcorn line and you saw calves, chickens, goats, horses, baby pigs and a dog, maybe you went to the movies in Forsyth. As a teen leadership project, Bremma Mosby and Jessica Harvey of Rosebud County’s Howard Ag club organized a petting zoo so young moviegoers could get into the spirit of Charlotte’s Web and learn about 4-H. They coordinated with other families and business owners to bring animals right to the Roxy theater. Even in chilly weather, kids enjoyed the zoo, especially the horse and baby pigs. After an up-close look at livestock projects, some young moviegoers were eager to join 4-H. After all, that’s some pig!

Montana 4-H Quality Assurance

Programs > Program Initiatives > Montana 4-H Quality Assurance
Montana 4-H Livestock Quality Assurance is an educational program that assists 4-H youth in producing a high quality, safe, and wholesome meat product while boosting consumer confidence. The educational basis of LQA is a mixture of common sense and easily carried out management practices and scientific procedures that will result in the best possible product for the consumer.

Montana 4-H members enrolled in any market animal project must be LQA certified as a junior 4-H member (ages 9-13) and again as a senior 4-H member (ages 14-19). LQA certification workshops are offered on the county level throughout the 4-H year. Contact your local MSU County Extension Office for workshop dates in your area.
